Your integrations, on your terms: Harmony partners with Frends

Why we’re partnering with Frends, who it’s for, and what it means for you.

Your integrations, on your terms: Harmony partners with Frends

It’s official: Harmony is now a partner of Frends, the European integration platform. We’ve been working towards this for a while.

Below you’ll find why we chose Frends, who it’s for, and what changes for you. The short answer to that last question: if you already work with us, nothing changes.

Where do your integrations run?

Integration is one of the foundations Harmony IT is built on. For more than ten years, we’ve built integrations for large organisations across the Benelux, with a strong track record in healthcare. In plain terms, integrations are what connect your systems, so your CRM, ERP and customer portal all work from the same data.

For years, the main question was: “Is our data stored in Europe?” Now we hear a second one more and more often: “Where do our integrations actually run, and who controls them?”

That question matters more as AI agents take over tasks in your systems. Everything an agent does runs through your integrations. So whoever controls them has a say in what happens.

For most organisations, that’s not a concern. For some it is, especially in energy, the public sector and other regulated industries. They need a European partner from start to finish.

Frends explains this well in its manifesto, Residency was the easy part. In its own survey of 611 European decision-makers, 61% said data sovereignty is critical. Only 12% have set up their integrations with that in mind.

What makes Frends different

Frends started in Finland in the late 1980s, building software to automate unmanned petrol stations. It has been an independent integration platform since 2022. Today it has more than 250 people, serving over 6,000 customers in 16 countries.

Frends is European-owned, and you decide where it runs:

  • in your own data centre, fully offline if needed
  • in Frends Sovereign Cloud, from a data centre in Frankfurt, with only European parties involved
  • in Frends’ standard cloud, or a combination

One thing that stood out to us: in Frends, you build an integration as a process diagram, using BPMN, a standard notation for business processes. What you design is what runs. People without a coding background can follow what an integration does, and you’re less dependent on the one developer who knows how everything works.

A process in the Frends Process Editor: an AI step categorises an incoming message, which then goes to a different step for each category.

Why we chose Frends

We’ve been a MuleSoft partner for ten years, and that partnership works well. So adding a new platform wasn’t a decision we took lightly. As a team, we compared several potential partners, and Frends stood out.

  • Proven in the field. In Finland and Sweden, Frends has run for years at energy companies, municipalities and healthcare providers. We did our homework there, and what we heard convinced us. You’re not signing up for an experiment.
  • Our team knows it. Our people have completed the Frends training and put the platform through its paces alongside the Frends team. You’ll work with people who know what they’re doing.
  • Ready for what’s next. More AI agents means more questions about who’s in control. Frends already addresses this, with AI agents that can also run in your own environment. The platform grows with you.
  • Easy to work with. Their technical team responds quickly and is honest about what still needs work. If something gets stuck, we solve it together.

Our most experienced integration specialists are convinced. For us, Frends is a choice for the future, and one we’re making with confidence.

Frends sees it the same way.

“This partnership pairs our proven European integration platform with an established integration specialist in the Benelux that works close to its customers. Together with Harmony, we can give customers a real choice: Frends Sovereign Cloud in Frankfurt, their own data centre, or a mix. We’re confident that combining our strengths will bring real value to organisations across the Benelux.”

What changes for you?

If you already work with us, nothing changes. Same team, same people to call. MuleSoft remains our trusted platform, and we remain a Premium Partner. There’s no need to switch, either. Switching costs time and money, and it only makes sense when it pays off.

If you’re new to Harmony, you simply have more choice. Together, we’ll work out which platform fits your systems, your rules and your plans.

How we choose the right platform, together

We start by listening. What needs to happen? What’s already in place? Which rules apply to you? Who should manage your integrations, and what if you want to change things later?

Only then do we give advice. Sometimes the answer is Frends, sometimes MuleSoft, sometimes both.

We make that choice independently. We partner with both platforms, but we work for you. Because we have both in-house, we have no reason to steer you one way or the other. No vendor pressure, no package to push.

The platform matters, but it’s the people working with it who make the difference. Our integration team works with both platforms. You get a dedicated team that knows your systems, from the first conversation to a working solution. And if something goes wrong, our service desk is available 24/7.
